Kanye West wins Style War
Kanye West has won the Style War competition beating Jay-Z in the Finals by receiving 77% of the votes. Kanye arguably had the toughest route of everyone in the entire 64-man competition by defeating other notable trend-setters in the Hip-Hope world– Lupe Fiasco, Pharrell, and The Fresh Prince. Here is Kanye’s response via his blog:
"MAN I WANT TO THANK EVERYBODY. THIS IS A REAL HONOR! THIS WHOLE YEAR HAS BEEN SO OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE…. FROM THE YEEZY’S TO THE LOUIE VUITTONS…. FROM HEARTLESS BEING THE NUMBER ONE SONG ON RADIO FOR THE FIRST QUATER OF THIS YEAR TO AMAZING BEING THE THEME SONG FOR THE NBA PLAYOFFS. IT MEANS A LOT TO BE ABLE TO GET RESPECT FROM MY CORE AND PEERS EVEN THOUGH EVERYBODY KNOWS I GET A LITTLE CRAZY WITH THE CLOTHES SOMETIMES. I’M ON VACAY RT NOW WITH A WHITE T ON. IT’S NICE TO READ SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR A CHANGE! PHARRELL PIONEERED WHAT I DO NOW. HE WAS THE ORIGINAL TO BREAK DOWN DOORS BETWEEN “REAL FASHION” AND HIP HOP WORLDS, DOING BEATS FOR NOREAGA AND RUNNING AROUND WITH THE MODEL CHICKS. ROSS GET’S REAL FRESH. TI HAS A GREAT EFFORTLESS SINCE OF STYLE. JAY HAS SET MAD TRENDS AND IS THE SINATRA OF OUR ERA. NOBODY IS AS FRESH AS RALPH LUAREN HIMSELF, ONLY ANDRE 3000 AND BENTLEY GET CLOSE BUT THERE’S STILL WORK TO DO. I THINK OLD MEN DRESS THE FRESHEST, NOT TRENDY AT ALL BUT SOMETIMES STILL COLORFUL AND INTERESTING. THEY’VE FIGURED OUT WHAT LOOKS GOOD ON THEM AND THEY STICK IT. THE UP HILL BATTLE WE HAVE AS HIP HOP ARTIST IS HIP HOP IS ROOTED IN TRENDS. TRUE STYLE AND TRENDS VERY SELDOMELY MEET. THAT’S WHY WE HAVE A TENDENCY TO WEAR STUFF THAT’S LAUGHABLE 2 YEARS LATER. WHEN I CAN SEE CRAZY STUFF I’VE WORN AND PEOPLE LAUGH AT ME, ALL I CAN DO IS LAUGH WITH YOU AND THINK, I HAD FUN THOUGH. THANKS AGAIN, MR. WEST"

Being original...
Now the title of my blog is, "Originality is Rare." Now I called it that because people now a days are so quick to hop on a trend and try to call it their own. Now I will never say all trends are whack, skinny jeans and high top kicks are dope, but when you cant bend over in you jeans, they are too tight bro. Or to say you were doing it a long time ago when you just started doing it when those black rock star niggas were doing it, who are irrelevant one hit wonders themselves, you become a fake/phony. I like plaid too but damn. Like you dont have to conform with everyone else to be cool. Look, I read manga, watch anime, watch cartoons, rude, dress like a confused prep, plays video games, listen to all types of music....look pretty much I grew up like a stereotypical white boy but girls of all colors love me, black/white people find me the funniest nigga around, and people just say im chill as fuck. Its not what you wear, but how you wear it...bullshit. Its not all about retail, bullshit. But if you cant afford it, people dont give a fuck....people hate niggas who wear the same shit they just bought for big money and you got the knockoff though. People hate a nigga they cant chill with w/o wanting to fight them all the time though....Just be yourself, find shit your good at, and be everything you can be, because in the end, if you educate yourself, youll have a better chance of getting that big money job in the end, cop a wife, and spoil the shit out of your kid so they wont live the hard life you had to live, and it took me a while to figure that shit out for myself...Originality is Rare, and never forget it!

New Bible Discoveries
When police raided suspected antiquity smugglers in Cyprus, they hit gold. Reuters reports that they found what authorities believe is an ancient version of the Bible written in Syriac, a dialect of the native language of Jesus Christ. The manuscript, which has excerpts of the Bible written in gold lettering on vellum, is about 2,000 years old. The pages are loosely strung together. On one of the pages is a drawing of a tree and eight lines of Syriac script. Jesus spoke Aramaic, and Syriac is a dialect of that. Once widely spoken across much of the Middle East and Central Asia, Syriac is still used in the Syrian Orthodox Church in India, while Aramaic is still used in religious rituals of Maronite Christians in Cyprus.

Kanye x Guru
GURU Beverage Company announced they will be working on a new, organic energy drink with Kanye West via press release today. The company, which touts itself for "being built on principles of wellness, health, performance, authenticity and living life to the fullest," states an ad campaign involving West will be unveiled within the next six weeks.
"I express myself through music, fashion, art and design and that's why I am excited to collaborate with GURU; because the brand values what I value, and I can put what inspires me into this new product," West stated in the press release.
In addition to the currently unnamed new product, GURU announced Kanye has become an equity partner in the company. Terms of the deal were not announced, but some in the business community compare the move to 50 Cent's deal with Glacéau for their Vitamin Water brand [click to read].
"We are thrilled to be able to collaborate in the development of a new GURU product with Kanye West, whose talent and creativity embody GURU's philosophy of finding your inner genius, nurturing it and helping it bloom," added GURU Co-founder Ray Jolicoeur. "GURU reflects the health and creative sensibility of today's consumer who is searching for a drink that reflects who they are and how they live."
In addition to his venture with GURU, West also has deals in place with Louis Vuitton, Nike and Travelocity.com.

President Barack Obama brushed off a question about legalizing marijuana in his online town hall last month, but guitar god Carlos Santana says he wishes he would seriously consider it.
``Legalize marijuana and take all that money and invest it in teachers and in education,'' Santana said in an interview this week. ``You will see a transformation in America.''
During his online town hall on March 26, Obama fielded a question about whether legalization of the illicit drug would help pull the nation out of recession. Obama said he didn't think it was good economic policy, and also joked: ``I don't know what this says about the online audience.''
But Santana said making pot legal is ``really way overdue, like the prohibition with the alcohol and stuff like that.
``I really believe that as soon as we legalize and decriminalize marijuana we can actually afford a really good governor who won't keep taking money away from education and from teachers and send him back to Hollywood where he can do 'D' movies and we can get an 'A' governor,'' referring to former movie action hero and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Santana made the comments as he was promoting his upcoming rock residency in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The show debuts May 27 and runs through 2010.
``It's a milestone for me because I always said I would never do certain things,'' Santana said, adding that the list included staying in one place for too long.
``Yet what is very different is this is the year I decided to do all the things that I said I would never do. It's a way of coming into a room that I thought was dark and I would be afraid and I actually bring my light to it.''
Santana, whose hits vary from ``Evil Ways'' to ``Maria Maria,'' said he is also working on two upcoming albums.
While the 61-year-old has previously talked about a possible retirement, he's decided to be more careful about predicting the future.
``Every time I tell God my plans he cracks up, he starts laughing. So I just decided to be quiet for a while and not say that I am going to retire and go to Maui and become a minister,'' he said. ``God was cracking up. He thought it was a good joke. So I said, 'OK.' Every time I want to make him laugh I tell him my plans. So we'll see.''
